April 17, 2024 - Nose: oat, honey, caramel, white flowers, citrus oil, red date, toasted nuts, wild berries, mango, candied fruit, dried fig, white chocolate, bruised apple, peach, chestnut cake
Notes: disgorged January 2020. In golden-yellow color this has an absolutely explosive palate with intense acidity upon the first pour. Decanting this Champagne is probably the only choice in order to release the potential of this wine. The aftertaste lingers with its fine bubbles as the potential of the wine unveils with a bit of breathing. The second pour already showed significant improvement and I suspect this bottle has the ability to live on for decades more. This is regarded by many as a 100 pointer wine with a good reason, I also find this to be one of the most intense and sophisticated Champagne I've tasted yet I find this wine to be a little young to appreciate fully now. This is a fantastic bottle and I would suggest readers to decant the bottle for at least two hours before consuming. Stepping into the third hour this is drinking like a very nice bottle of white with an intoxicating nose and a well structured palate.

April 10, 2024 - Super taut on opening, loads of pine nut, very shy fruit. Slow oxed for an hour and tasted, started to unfurl. Didn't really show that classic Selosse character until 2 hours in and closely resembled Substance. Wasn't until the 3rd hour that the intensity and magnitude of this wine really showed. It was almost overwhelming to drink this side by side other bottles, it's so incredibly rich but kept in balance with sharp acidity. Really a showstopper, will pop the next bottle in 3-4 years.

I guessed Substance. This wine is a stunner. Unbelievably complex. Like a Tiramisu. With every sip you get one new layer of aromas. It was getting better and better after time. I heard the other half of the bottle was better next day. Thanks Ingo for sharing. 98(100)

August 17, 2023 - The wine needs air. So so much air. It’s so taut and acidic on the initial pour. The acidity is almost overwhelming initially. Then the wine starts to unfurl with each pour and with time in the glass. It starts to show a dense candied fruit note with ginger snaps and smoke, the flavor profile grows and starts to balance out the strong backbone of acidity. Brioche notes start to fill the mouth as it lends more warmth and width to the wine.

If you pop one of these I highly recommend a decant.
