Community Tasting Notes 4

December 21, 2022 - The Fifth Annual Largest Blind Tasting of American Sparkling Wine: Retail $65. 84% Pinot Noir, 16% Chardonnay. More of a fairly light orange than a pink with some faint peach and strawberry notes on the nose. This feels like there might be some age as I am getting an oxidative note along with really tart (and abundant) fruit. Salinity. I like it. But everyone else might not. 92 Points.

December 20, 2021 - The Fourth Annual World’s Largest Blind Tasting of American Sparkling Wine; 12/20/2021-12/23/2021: Retail $65. 84% Pinot Noir, 16% Chardonnay. Delicate salmon in the glass, almost a Provence style hue. Quite shy initially on the nose but as it warmed slightly, intense strawberry rushed in. Extremely dry on the palate, really, really dry—I would think the dosage has to be next to nil. But the fruit really shines, lasting all the way through the mid-palate and onto the lengthy finish. Whoa.

July 4, 2021 - Retail $65. 84% Pinot Noir, 16% Chardonnay. When I received this bottle a few months ago, I was stoked (West Coast word meaning "excited"). I had sampled the previous two iterations of this wine and I loved both of them (92.5 pts in 2015 and 94 pts in 2016). This vintage? A bit different (at least this bottle). Sure, it is still very good, even excellent, but this vintage seems to be lacking a bit in fruit, thus comes off as more austere (and might have benefitted from a richer, sweeter, dosage). Still, this is a stellar (see what I did there?) sparkler, with good tartness, vibrant bubbles, and a lively finish. Just needs a boost of fruit.

    March 24, 2021 - Pale apricot robe.
A profusion of pinoint bubbles, generouse mousse.
    Faintest yeasty nose.
Tart apple and lemon notes, discrete finish.
    Lean and lovely.
