September 16, 2023 - I have to agree with about the last 5 notes or so regarding this 2019….cherry…smooth tannins…a little bit earthy…(confession, I did think a bit green/ herbal right after opening, but that note dissipated as it aired out). I think RPHC nailed it, also the several remarks regarding QPR. It’s so difficult to find a reliable Cabernet under $25 that isn’t “muddy”, unstructured, or seems rather “manufactured”. This wine delivers year after year. It is not a great wine, their Clos Apalta is though. But, for consistency, decent structure, and good QPR, it delivers. I’ve had a Cuvée Alexandre bottling or three for 26 consecutive years since their beginning in 1994. The early years were Merlot, but the last 2/3 have been the Cabernet. All from the Apalta vineyard. And that’s why we get the same good stuff year after year I believe.

July 21, 2023 - Open and fragrant nose of primarily fresh cherries and violets, with the bouquet supported by overripe cherries as well as herbs - perhaps mild oregano, as well as sweeter florals. Palate reflects the nose and is still very fruit-forward. Mouthfeel is smooth and refined; some fine-grained tannins remain. Medium powered finish that extends for miles with fresh and dark cherries. 90 now; QPR hunters rejoice because this is a phenomenal value; my rating would be several points higher if I scored with price into account!! *Lapostolle was founded in 1994 by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband, Cyril de Bournet. The winery is currently run by their son, Charles de Bournet - the 7th generation of a French winemaking family. *This 2019 vintage: 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Carmenere, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot - all from estate-owned vineyards.

April 30, 2023 - Almost a year later. More of a nose this time around, mild bright cherry. Richer mouthfeel, bright flavors as well. Hit all the marks as an afternoon sipper.

April 26, 2023 - Great value. Ready to drink. Aging won’t improve it. Not too complex but still enjoyable.
