April 14, 2007 - i have read that 1998 was a difficult year for california in terms of weather and growing conditions. so, in that framework, this wine is a success for the vintage. vibrant crimson color. fruit forward nose. smells more like a pinot than a cabernet. sweet and minty quality. soft on the palate. may have shone more depth a few years ago as other reviewers have commented. at this point, a pleasant wine but not spectacular. good value but not a keeper.
