May 25, 2019 - From double-magnum. Over dinner, no formal notes. Hardly any discolouration, very dark. Expressive dark berry fruit, tobacco, spices, great depth on the nose. On the palate still fairly tight from this format, grippy tannins, great acidity, generous fruit. Very long and lingering. 92-94?+

April 17, 2019 - This could use some more time -- if you decide to drink it now, give it a 2 hour decant to open up.

October 3, 2018 - Still quite young out of the bottle. Very Bordeaux-like. Needs air, but some good juice is underneath the tannin, etc...

September 12, 2018 - I bought this wine more than 10 years ago, after one particularly pleasant summer spent traveling through Tuscany. For reasons I can't recall, Mrs. L and I drove hurriedly through Maremma to get to Grosseto, so we could not stop at this estate. The wine is inky dark and still young after all these years, with a sweet and slightly hot alcoholic edge that tickles the back of the throat. The deep, ripe berry flavors bring back memories of hot Tuscan summers. There is already much complexity here despite the wine's youthfulness. Still, I will wait a few more years for the tannins to soften before opening another bottle.
