October 10, 2019 - Tasted blind. Obviously a Tawny but of note is the power and potency here despite the softening effects of age. Hugely complex with a powerful madeira like acidity that gives a sense of severity. Brilliant.
September 2, 2019 - Wife drinks this over a 2 week period and just loves it. Awesome flavors and smooth finish.
August 31, 2019 - An amazing dinner with cherished friends (Chez Garard): Solid, caramel, smooth finish
May 12, 2019 - Fantastic, deep, rich and full.
April 20, 2019 - Decidedly better than I remember. Very rich wood flavors, a bit stickier than I typically like but coats the mouth and has staying power. Lots of cherry, smoothed our well.
August 8, 2018 - incredibly complex, mahogany, leather, turbinado, candied mandarin, raisins, prunes, good VA, lingering
November 22, 2017 - Prefer Taylor smoothness, this feels rough and overly sticky to be honest. Nice qpr but I don’t love it to death for a 40 yo. Good tawny though.
June 29, 2017 - Drank head to head against Taylor Fladgate 40 year old Port. The Leonardo has deeper flavors, more concentrated and robust, and a touch more acidity, adding to the experience. Rich, thick, deep flavors of plums, cream, slight citrus, caramel. Very long finish. Intense bouquet.
October 5, 2016 - Tasty, Caramel, smoked wood, great finish and just not enough so I had another glass.
September 2, 2016 - Outstanding. Won't assign this a formal rating because I don't know tawny port that well, but for just me I'd say 94-95. Has a madiera quality and a richness that would be so perfect with a salted caramel + chocolate desert. We had this on its own after dinner and it worked like that too.
