October 18, 2023 - Ok, I could not quite wait 2 yrs, but almost. I feel a real development. The fruit feels more ripe, the herbs more subdued - almost gone - and even with no meat on the plate the tannins that are certainly there, seem smoother. In my opinion this wine is now good and good to go. Still, i will wait another year to experience the further development. Drink from Bordeaux glass obviously.
August 24, 2023 - Dark fine red color.
Fresh fruity scent. A little tight. Hints of cherry. Slightly dry and dusty character. Food wine. Good
August 19, 2023 - Very shallow favour profile. Would not buy again for price
July 22, 2023 - Piedmont vs Tuscany (Annandale Cellars, Annandale): Rich, plums, black cherry, a little sweet spice, oak. Medium plus intensity acidity, plenty of woody/chalky tannins, dark hued fruits, long with a touch of non-intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish.
May 24, 2023 - This is a pretty wine, medium ruby, medium bodied, use of oak is well balanced with the fruit. More intense on the palate, mixture of lovely sweet red and black berry fruits, some pyrazine notes, tannins are mellow with decent length and acidity.
April 30, 2023 - Medium body, feminine, round.
March 10, 2023 - Lovely deep purple colour. Nose of plum, vanilla and herb bushels. Palate is very smooth and wide with red fruits, leather and spice. Short dry savory finish. Well made and structured wine without exciting the senses.
December 3, 2022 - Very smooth after decanting,
December 2, 2022 - PnP it wasn't showing much and was a bad showing. Barely any nose and the palate wasn't presenting. I recorked the bottle (mid shoulder fill) and put it in the fridge for 24h. The next day a completely different wine emerged.
The nose was filled with rosemary, sage, herbs, and a pungent red fruit. Just on the nose alone, I could have immediately jumped to Cab Franc. The palate showed some nice fruits but still with plenty of herbal character. There was nice acid and tannin intermingled. The finish showed some elegant structure.
This was a very educational experience for me. Often I will buy a relatively inexpensive wine ($20-25ish), PnP, and expect to be blown away by the value. I will essentially never do that with an expensive bottle. This was proof-positive for properly preparing a wine, regardless of its price. On Day 1 with minimal prep it was an 86, but the following day (with a bit of serendipity) it was easily a 90.
Drink now but please slow ox it for 24h.
