January 1, 2024 - Clear amber in appearance, attractive nose of apricots and butterscotch; still lively on the palate, a touch under medium body with silky texture, apricots on entry and on the midpalate, and a sprightly yet filigreed acid spine. Really well balanced, and moreish, this seems evergreen.

December 14, 2022 - From the cellar directly into the glasses.
I am afraid it is declining by now (after 63 years). A lot of energy has left by now, making the still honey colored wine subdued and less complex.Still a wonderful experience for my guests (and me)

May 16, 2021 - Sweeter than expected at this age. Complex, mellow and rounded. Very loing. hazelnuts and caramel, some apricots and just a tine bit of orange peel.

June 27, 2018 - Moulin Touchais: A retrospective tasing conducted by Frederik Wilbrenninck and Richard Kelley MW; 6/26/2018-6/27/2018 (The Institute of Masters of Wine, London SW11): Richard Kelley MW: 'The 1959 is supposedly the best vintage since 47 but I prefer the '55 today. It was a big vintage as far as production went. The 1959 was still commercially available until 2006!'

‘Smells like Golden Grahams breakfast cereal’ says Edwina Watson. I found it a bit muted aromatically with traces of burnt oats and apricot.
Terse and shortish flavours in the context of the previous flight (79-64). A bit brassy on the palate which hints at VA. Difficult and odd salty flavours, lacks clarity and depth, lots of acid. None of this is adding up to a stellar score is it?

I took the bottle home to try out again and it stubbornly refused to get better.

June 26, 2017 - A private dinner @ Scharzhof. Egon Müller's birth year. Another pristine bottle. More developed than the 1975 today off course, but still so much to like here. A treat!
