July 16, 2015 - Very big, smooth and rich. Wonderful nose. This is in a nice drinking window right now.

March 4, 2012 - Very big fruit on the nose right away. Initially a bit angular and almost grainy. But quickly settled into the glass. Some zin-like pepper and dried fruit on the nose which threw me. After an hour settled right down. Chewy fruit, good chalky grenache mouthfeel. Would have liked a bit more complexity beyond the dominant fruit flavors but still an impressive Paso-style big wine.

    February 1, 2012 - ---
    COLOR: Ruby red velvet
NOTE: This was in unbelievably great shape. 10 years strong and while it's ready to go now it showed no signs of having gone "over the hill." From nose to finish it was bursting with red berry liqueur and kirsch, extremely reminiscent of high-quality Aussie Shiraz (i.e., Elderton Command and Two Hand's Bella's Garden) with the requisite tar and anise. Great complexity, nice balance and just kept you sipping and sipping until it was (sadly) gone. I think this is the first vintage of this wine, no?

    DECANT: 1-4 hours
    GLASS USED: Syrah
    TASTE: 9.2+
    OTHER:
    COST: 39
    VALUE: 8.5
    PREVIOUSLY TASTED: n/a
    TRY AGAIN: now - 2015
PAIRING: Stacy's seared ribeye and arugula salad with balsamic dressing. Knockout!

November 15, 2011 - Flavors nicely integrated, smooth, bold fruit. Hints of mocha or chocolate on the palette, long finish. As the wine opened, the 16.6 percent alcohol occasionally cut through.

February 26, 2011 - very young and brash! More syrah meat than grenache fruit with a big tannic finish. Nice fireside wine on a winter's night
