Community Tasting Notes 8

May 20, 2023 - {screwcap, 13%} Some bricking, but plenty of deep garnet still. Aged nose, jammy new world fruit and a hint of leather. Cool, fresh palate, very sweet, with mild dusty tannins and medium acidity. Only medium weight really, but nicely balanced, even if it is a bit simple and short. But that’s hypercritical - this is very satisfying. Ready to drink, and thank god for the screwcap! Blend of cab, shiraz, merlot and Malbec, with plenty of sweet shiraz filling it out I reckon.

July 26, 2018 - Other tasting notes suggested that I would not be excited with this wine. But I was very pleasantly surprised. It had vibrancy, beautiful nose, plenty of fruit and improved as it opened out. A very pleasant wine that I would drink again.

March 30, 2018 - Excellent, 13% alc. Cab Sauv, Shiraz, Merlot, Malbec
    Colour: rich black berry
Bouquet: black currant, spice, white pepper
Palate: intense black currant, cassis, blueberry, touches of tobacco, leather and liquorice, full bodied but soft fruit and tannins, good acid and length, all balanced. very fresh fruit still. Juicy, almost 'sweaty saddle' character.

August 14, 2017 - The nose is OK: cassis, plums, leathery earth. The palate is , well, awful. Such a bitter, tart aftertaste, coupled with chalky tannins. Not much better on Day 2, and I don't think I can be bothered keeping it to day 3.
