  December 2, 2023 - The grand dame is still hanging in there. Primary fruit is gone and warm undertones are left. Great old wine.

  March 12, 2014 - Opened with dinner, this pours a solid red to the rim. nose of slight funk, there's a slight detergent and bell pepper aroma as well, rigs and raspberry. Framed by solid uplifting acids, there's rusty dusty cherry, a carpet of light spice and mellow, evolving and broadening mouthfeel with air. The '96 is better, this feels a little thin and hollow, but is improving with air. Aromatics on day two have improved considerably, showing rose notes, expansive iron and tilth, and madieraized plum. The attack is beautiful, though fading through the mid and finish. Very nice.

  August 16, 2013 - I purchased the bottle on a winery visit in 2000 and kept it in perfect condition at 11 Celsius with humidity at 70 percent. Reviews for this wine found here on Cellatracker were spot on. The wine has clearly past its peak and should now be relegated to the kitchen to make a tasty sauce. On the nose: green olives and fruit cake. In the mouth the wine was extremely dry being almost void of fruit. It improved a bit with time but that could be my tongue becoming accustomed to the high acidity. Disappointed.
