October 29, 2023 - Translucent cherry on the pour, deep ruby in the glass with medium legs. Mild cherry aromas. Cherry and unripe blackberry on the palate, medium acidity with spice, powdery tannins, a little oily. Black pepper, smoke. Bold, medium body. Slightly tart, somewhat of a gravelly sensation on the tongue. Off dry, medium finish.

Good QPR with this one. Very serviceable, easy drinking. Not marvelous by any stretch but for ten dollars I’m not complaining. Would buy again for those reasons. Bought at the same time as a bottle of Juan Gil silver label Monastrell, which cost 50% more. Hope to compare the two soon.

Had second glass with penne pasta featuring mushrooms, spinach, onion, cherry tomatoes and ricotta salata cheese. Blackberry becomes more prominent somehow, with enhanced baking spice. The wine is up to the task without dominating the food.

If you were the sort to buy a record, etc. solely based on its beautiful and compelling artwork (guilty as charged), you might find yourself drawn to this wine. The label is indeed beautiful.

    August 8, 2023 - Impulse Purchase @ Costco
    14.5% abv - $6

Served (aerated and 30 minute decant) with Stuffed Bell Peppers,Brocolli and Caprese Salad.

Dark Cherry red on the pour. Fragrant nose of Cherry and Raspberry, carrying over to the full flavored palate. Medium bodied, but robust, with spice notes and ample tannins (fuzzy-tooth feel) and nice acidity. Pleasant lingering finish.

    Spouse Endorsed Will get more.

July 12, 2023 - My mind raced back to when I was touching the hot sand, smelling the heat laced with a smell of desert, the dry wild herbs, while the sun scorched my back, arms and head. That heat off the soil smacked my face violently, yet there was a cooling breeze. I looked over the hills and the old twisted, dry-farmed Monastrell vines waved. Across each leaf leapt a Léolon. Dancing from leaf to leaf they darted. This was their playground. I smiled as I witnessed. I was not surprised, yet I enjoyed the display. When I visited Russian River all those years ago and saw the similar dance for the first time, I realized that this Vitus Vinifera was something special and different and wondered how. Now I knew.
This juice was delish. It held special meaning. Its ancestors were of the origins going back to the golden city of Zion all those centuries back to Zion after the flood where the women of old held the keys to prosperity, for surely they traded fine wine for gold to bring wealth to Zion, where everyone had a ration of the juice for health and daily enjoyment. This is my vision and this is my truth.
Here we experience something similar to those ancient golden ages: Jumilla, the source of ancient Truth through grape of ancient descent. Monastrell, the interesting product of the old ones, who bring something that was preserved in the hills of Jumilla. Thank you.
Such a value. Will buy more.

September 21, 2022 - Enjoyable, not great. Good casual red.

August 18, 2022 - Still lots of power and lots of spice. Shows off its Monestrell. Tons of gumption there. If it wasn't so cheap I would say lay it down for a year or so.
