March 23, 2024 - Opens with air, scents hint at cocoa and blueberry, intense on the palate with bright and bracing acid, flavors of black cherry, raspberry, earth and a kiss of licorice on the finish, balanced between richness and vibrancy, very well made, an excellent value, serious wine at a sub-50 dollar price, hold or decant, a great match with Wagyu steak

February 16, 2024 - Chalky mouthfeel with grippy tannins and a wonderful mouthfeel. We really enjoyed this wine now, but it will improve greatly with a few years in bottle.

    February 8, 2024 - -- decanted for 45 min. before initial taste --
-- tasted blind over 3.75 hrs on Day 1; revisited on Days 2 and 3 --

NOSE: Day 1: ripe; “winey”; red fruits and bitter florals; no funk or pencil shavings; hint of mint; more similar to #9 (2020 Malescot) than to #8 (2020 d’Armailhac). Day 2: high-pitched, with bitter florals.

BODY: magenta-violet color of medium-deep depth; medium to medium-full bodied.

TASTE: medium to medium+ acidity; “flat” out of the gates, and flavors are in-line with initial Nose, in the sense that it’s fairly anonymous; a bit boozy tasting – faintly reminiscent of a lightly-peated whisky (oak); much juicier and now with red berries at the 4.5 hrs. open mark, and now coming into greater focus, too --- no longer “flat” --- much improved. Day 2: good acidity (medium+); some drying tannin and oak. Day 3: oak still immediately noticeable. Approachable now, but the oak is significant, so best to Hold.

November 18, 2023 - Langtons Bordeaux 2020 Arrival Tasting (Sydney, Australia): Quite neatly balanced and classical. Good value.

November 17, 2023 - blackcurrant, cocoa, cream, a little cassis, good quality oak here as well. Smells as if it's going to be on the 'large' side. Juicy, fleshy, and this is bold here but balanced, tannins are very slightly in the ascendency, the blackcurrant cassis fruit is joined by aa little plum. Yum.

June 28, 2023 - PnP, from 0.375l bottle, diam cork, 13% Alc., deep purple red color.

Nose: Complex sweet black fruit, very nice.

Palate: Tasteable quality in the glass, harmonious and good balance, dosed use of wood, good intensity, nice expression of violet and some black cherry fruit, at the end raspberry, good complexity even multilayered. Enjoyable and promising wine!

After three disappointments from 2020 Bdx, e.g. Grand Puy Lacoste (no notes taken), Malartic Lagraviere and La Gurgue, this wine was really convincing. Quality of components, structure and fruit are right here, a good development can be expected as well, 92+.

March 21, 2023 - The first thing you notice is the beautiful sense of purity in the red fruits before finding all the flowers and leaves of tobacco. On the palate, the wine is vibrant, firm, fresh and layered with crushed rocks, currants, blackberries, and spice. The tannins are soft and ripe, with a gentle polish to the lifted, red fruits in the elegant finish. Give it a few years in the cellar and enjoy over the following 2 or more decades. Drink from 2025-2050.

May 20, 2021 - Dark garnet in color, the wine is all about its creme de cassis, flowers, blackberries, cigar wrapper, smoke and green forest leaf aromatics. Vibrant and silky with freshness to the fruits bringing you lift and definition. The wine finishes with a touch of cocoa, tobacco and ripe, sweet, juicy, savory currants that linger. This is clearly an estate on the rise. Give this at least 7 years of aging before pulling a cork. The wine is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. 92-94
