October 15, 2016 - A bit too much alcohol hit the nose first, followed by candied oranges and raisins; rather hot on the palate, raisins, roasted nuts, and stewed apples; hot and long finish; overall, 87-88 points; not much to my liking; would stick to Hennessy Cognac VSOP as my regular house brandy.

February 29, 2016 - Medium amber, clean on the nose with medium intensity. Aromas reminds of orchard fruit (green apple, pear), citrus fruit (orange and lemon), spices (clover, nutmeg, light vanilla) and toast.
On the palate it has a very light sweetness with smooth alcohol and medium body. Very light tannins are perceivable. Flavour intensity is medium and reminds of apple and pear at first, giving way to spices (vanilla and nutmeg). Some ripe citrus fruit is also present. Finish is medium and shows some complexity.
I am by no means an expert when it comes to cognac, but I enjoyed it. Alcohol is not overwhelming and a light sweetness rounds it and makes it easy to approach. Not very intense or long, but appreciable and versatile.

January 30, 2016 - “Spirits of the World” (non-blind), Spirit 2: This Cognac was medium amber in colour and offered grapy notes, stone fruit, peach, apple, dried orange peel and a hint of vanilla on the nose. On the palate the Cognac showed grapy notes, stone fruit, peach, apple, some smoke, some liquorice and a hint of vanilla, with moderate heat from the alcohol and average length. A medium-bodied, medium-complex, reasonably balanced Cognac.

October 21, 2014 - Believed bottled around 1990. Level 8 cm below the stopper cork. If anything, this old bottle is proof that the trend toward greater sweetness in big brand cognacs is very regrettable (even my beloved Delamain XO has fallen victim to it). This one has the floral fragrance and the chalky elegance one associates with Champagne Cognacs; it is light and flowing, relatively young but without any rough edges; there is lovely ripe fruit, and it is fresh and pure without the oppressive caramel and boisé sweetness introduced in more recent years. The colour is lighter too; old gold rather than amber. I will savour this one while it lasts...
