September 29, 2016 - Good wine just leaving its peak probably. Seriously defined sweet herbal component on the nose, mint peppermint eucalyptus sweet basil even. palate is refined and firm. better with food and didn't like air. drink up!

December 6, 2013 - Now medium-to-deep garnet in color, this Klopp iteration is hitting its stride. Within one hour of opening the bottle (without decanting) it shows intense aromas of Bing cherries, cocoa, cola, cardamom and nutmeg. Medium-bodied, fresh and with light sweet tannins, it has similar flavors as for the nose. These flavors are harmonious and receive no interference from the (reported) 14.4% alcohol. Solid in the middle and very long on the finish, this wine has now attained "classic" quality status. Collectors holding well-cellared bottles will be greatly rewarded over the next 3-4 years (or longer). Those unfamiliar with the wines of Merry Edwards will be surprised to hear that her vineyard-designated bottlings typically require several years of cellaring before fully strutting their stuff. The "poster children" for the benefits of cellaring are her Klopp offerings. Drink now-2018.

September 19, 2013 - Dark red-violet. Aromas are dense and smoky, many-berried (blue, black, rasp), with tar and sandalwood stick. Medium tannin for pinot noir, and acidity a bit lighter than from most cool regions California. Flavor development since release is slight, still all primary fruit, spice of oak, hint of heat and black pepper spice. Bottle #2 of three.
