July 1, 2023 - Opened with Durand, no issue with cork, enjoyed in Zalto Bordeaux glass

Nose was surprisingly complex, with smoke, tobacco, wet earth, old shoe leather the dominant aromas after about 1 hour decant. Some wild berry red fruit, pencil lead, and baking spices emerged with more time in the glass. Quite satisfying overall.

In the mouth, a water texture was flavored by subdued red cherry, cranberry, and pomegranate fruit nicely balanced by earthy spice. Any tannin totally integrated with the clean finish displaying ripe strawberry and cherry fruit. Mature and ready to go, but will certainly hold for many years.

April 21, 2023 - Bottle opened two hours before lunch. More than enough time. Cherry colour with violet tones, a dark core and watery edges of a blurred brick colour. On the nose, firm notes of cranberries combined with toasted cereals and something vegetable, like a boiled artichoke. Also some cookies. Smooth and correct second wine. In the mouth it retains a velvety texture, a refreshing acidity and a delicious aftertaste without traces of astringent notes. Well integrated alcohol. Much better than the previous bottle drunk in 2015. A Bordeaux claret at its best. Recognizable St. Julien. Twenty years on and that famous heat from 2003 has left no trace. It is always newsworthy after those interested warnings from critics that still today are not rectified. Shamefully.

Vergonzosamente.

April 17, 2023 - The rich fruit was center stage here, and has after 20 years developed a savory black tea element. This is fine to drink, but due to lack of acid the fruit will continue to develop fast, I wouldn't hold on to it much longer.

December 21, 2019 - Tasted alongside the 1999 and 2000 vintage of the same wine. This one has the most pronounced nose and vibrant Berry flavors. It seems a nice representation of the Vintage which was apparently quite warm and marked by fruit forward flavors. That being said, it was not overly complex, and I found this one has the most pronounced nose and vibrant berry flavors. It seems a nice representation of the Vintage which was apparently quite warm and marked by fruit forward flavors. That being said, it was not overly complex, and I found it to rate similarly with the 1999.

September 15, 2019 - Definitely, unwittingly, overpaid for this wine ($98), but actually it was a very good old Bordeaux. Surprisingly little sediment and NO tannins. Not much earth and good fruit. Probably more like a $40-$50 value.....
