December 31, 2023 - Wow! What a lovely Bourgogne blanc… and so reasonable! Maison Gueguen is a Chablis producer whose top Chablis go for top prices. It is not clear what the exact genesis of this Chardonnay is, but it's damn good. Quite soft for a Chablis — if it is from Chablis. It's all stainless with malolactic, which has softened the natural acidity and added a touch of sour cream, which I love in a white Burgundy. Tasted blind, I would have guessed Mâcon, even Pouilly-Fuissé. To reiterate: super value and far better for this price than what any New World Chardonnay can possibly offer.

November 29, 2023 - Teintes jaune mimosa assez dense
    Nez de pommes mures
En bouche toute la typicité d'un bourgogne, pomme, sucre d'orge, acidité-sucrosité au point d'équilibre.
Persistance moyenne. Un excellent rapport Q-P.

April 6, 2022 - At a wine bar BTG. Pale gold. Nice clean aromas of lemon, hay, wet rock, pear. Medium light body with refreshing minerality, lemon wash, apple/pear, dough, salinity. As a prior reviewer noted, this does become more expressive with some warmth. 89-90

March 27, 2022 - Gold/yellow color. Aromas of peach and pears, hint of lemon. Lovely minerality on the palate, pears, lemon, hint of honey. Refreshing acidity, good balance. Finishes moderately long with honey and sour lemon. Let this warm up a bit; it gets juicier and brighter. A very nice basic chardonnay and a good value. Drink over the next 5 years.

March 19, 2022 - Pale lemon. Med+ intensity. Blossom, apple, lemon, hints of pineapple, wet stones, pastry, cream. High acidity. Med alcohol (12,5%) and body. Med finish. Great value.

    NB:
From vines around the village of Préhy in Chablis, grown on the Kimmeridgian fossil-rich soils.
The mechanical harvest is followed by direct pressing, with cold settling and natural yeasts. Fermentation takes place in vats and the wine goes through total malolactic fermentation. Aging is carried out on fine lees for around 10 months.

December 30, 2021 - Pale brassy gold. Subtle limey nose. Very smooth, silky, grapefruit with decent mid palate, a touch of slate and a bitter edge. Medium finish. Really good and a Great QPR. Update day 3 - still retaining bright acidity and nice citrus flavors. A real winner.
