Community Tasting Notes 6

August 26, 2010 - pale garnet; strawberry, raspberry with fading spice and earth notes; a bit thin in the mouth with a shadow of fruit and more dominant smoky herbal notes (though not unpleasant). much better a year or so ago.

April 14, 2010 - Blind Pinot Noir Dinner (Chateau VinoMe): Served blind in a lineup of 6 Pinots. Anwar brought this. This was my favorite Pinot of the night. A cloudy red color. Smooth tannins and old world in character. Medium bodied with ripe cherry and a nuttiness to it. Some tartness on the finish. Finished 1st in the voting (3 1st place votes). 91 points.

December 4, 2005 - Thoroughly enjoyed this wine. Wonderful earthy-funk on the nose followed by silky smooth palate of wild cherry and some mint on the finish.
Seems to be approaching maturity. I found it to be soft and supple. Real nice.

May 19, 2005 - Inky, dark red and opaque with a good nose of dark fruit, this is a monster pinot noir, sutffed full of structure, tannin and mouth-coating alcohol (14.5% - though the alcohol isn't at all obtrusive). At this stage of its evolution it is showing more like King Kong than Lauren Bacall; it is amazing that a pinot noir can have so much stuffing. I have two more bottles and I think I'll let them rest for a few years to see what happens.
