Community Tasting Notes 1

April 7, 2008 - A Wine Society bottling so a nice dark green bottle and a firm cork too. Beautifully preserved wine with just a hint of bracken/decay on the nose at first but I gave this a full 2 hour decant and it improved well. Classic minor Pauillac - fading at the rim but a healthy garnet centre - full of vigour and good depth of fruit. Nose was subtle but red fruits and a hint of tobacco. Better flavour - redcurrants, raspberries and cranberries. None of the leanness sometimes found in this vintage - open, soft and rounded. Classic. Lovely old wine.
