Community Tasting Notes 20

April 23, 2010 - Last of the six-pack, and the least pleasing; sour notes came out; couldn't drink it, but others enjoyed it

February 3, 2010 - Spicy and lots of fruit. Very full mouthfeel.

  • ctbob wrote:

January 21, 2010 - Grenache? Defty anyone to identify it as that, and while the fruit is fading and it's time to drink up, this is still a crisp food-friendly wine that goes well with lighter, spicier red-sauce foods; solid QPR

  • ctbob wrote:

December 28, 2009 - A rough country wine with plenty of fruit... but it's not evolving or going anywhere: terrific for what it is, and where it is now is all it's going to be; drink up

September 8, 2009 - In a v. nice spot right now; in balance, fruit still lively, a pleasure; will drink the rest soon

(EVOHE Garnacha) Evohe DEAL Dear Friends, For such a low-priced wine, this is rather difficult to find and it represents what can be done with very low yields in an area that has always had the consumer in mind and not the cash register - Aragon (specifically Bajo Aragon, which has elevation near 2000 ft above sea level, quite high for growing Grenache). No oak of any kind and fruit from fresh-pressed old-vines that would be prized for a luxury cuvee in Priorat or the Rhone make this inexpensive mini-marvel a steal for the style: This is not a wimpy example from an alcohol standpoint and like most post 1995 CdP that are in excess of 15%, the Grenache is sultry and sappy but the high elevation and low humidity of the region give this a unique style. If you are a fan of the Nino Jesus Vinas Viejas, this is for you... ONE SHIPMENT ONLY with perfect provenance directly from the source 2005 Evohe Garnacha (Bajo Aragona/Vino el la Tierra) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Spain9990
