April 12, 2014 - Very fruit forward, even at 9 years old, with raspberry kir, integrated tannins and nice finish

June 3, 2013 - I would have guessed a S. Rhone had I not have known the bottle this wine came from. Tannins are fully resolved and provide a nice texture to the wine. This wine is at its peak but should hold steady for a few (3-5) more years. The only possible negative is the high alcohol level, but does not interfere with the flavor profile. 92

    COLOR: Deep garnet
NOTE: Corked in the nose, but the mouth/finish were surprisingly not as offensive. Actually, if I could have the nose of the 2006 with the mouth/finish of the 2005 I might have scored higher than either vintage! Weird. Anyway, this smelled nasty straight out of the bottle and only got worse with time.

June 24, 2010 - A powerful nose of juicy strawberry, raspberry liqueur, cookie dough, clay, dried herb, coffee grounds and that intriguing watermelon note. Moody on the palate, with a pronounced doughiness, stony strawberry, plum and underbrush. The finish shows some tannic strength and crisp acidity, along with spicy garrigue and stony red fruit. I made the mistake of pop and pour. This very promising youngster needs some air or 2-3 years in the cellar.

February 22, 2009 - Very nice -- a bit tight at first, not revealing much on the nose. On the palate, some spiciness, sour cherries, pomegranate, slightly elevated acidity. With time, it mellows out and fruit comes forward (getting jammier) with a nice smooth finish. Can let these rest longer -- highly recommended. I need to buy more Rudius.

February 13, 2009 - Had a taste from friends who we ran into at Under the Moon Bordentown. Incredible grenache with lots of black fruits and just a hint of strawberry. If tasted blind, I never would have guessed this was a straight grenache. Right up there with Kris Curran's grenache! Gorgeous! Thanks Tom! Cheers!

January 25, 2009 - Delicious. Fruit big but, surprisingly, not at the front of the profile. It falls somewhere further along. The balance of this wine is just right with enough punch and acidity to hold up to some pretty spicy foods. The finish is medium long and lip smacking. The flavors are big, dark fruits with some leathery and spicy notes. My one complaint is that it exhibited a rather weak and less than interesting nose. Maybe it was our particular bottle.

January 21, 2009 - Decanted overnight, poured back into the bottle and drank over 2 hours. Smoky fire roasted red pepper, clove, allspice and cinnamon on the nose. Rich, deep, spicy red fruit palate. This has really smoothed out nicely in the last year. Beautiful finish, complex and hearty.
