February 15, 2023 - There’s quality fruit in this wine, although maybe less ideal than what the winemaker was hoping for. But the pedigree is there. However, I just wish they didn’t have to go and try to make it better. I wish they had just let it be. Because now there’s a doctored up quality to this wine that I don’t really love. Pretty cherry and mapled fig on the nose. The palate is a bit to saccharine and synthetic for my tastes.

December 22, 2021 - Youthful still, and quite substantial. 14.1ABV with oak needing a few more years to integrate & soften the fruit. Delicious, not overly complex, rich & dark black/blue fruits. Nice match with med rare duck & lamb tonite.

September 8, 2021 - Slow oxygenated for 6 hours. Notes of black cherry, cola, fig, and black tea. A little heavy handed on the palate, with a kick of heat.

November 18, 2017 - Deep, mature fruit, balance of fruit, acid, tannins. Still dark, just about right in 2017.

April 9, 2016 - Dark, abundant black & blue fruit, just enough ripe stem, subtle acid and appropriate tannin.... fully mature, I think, with fruit gathering minor characteristics of decline. Recommend drinking within 2-4 years if well stored.

May 31, 2012 - As delicious as the last bottle, but with more wonderful earthy notes on the nose and palate.

March 26, 2012 - Strongly earthy on the nose and a bit on the palate. Weighty fruit but not really showing a lot of extraction. Strong blackberry and dark cherry. There is a bit of a bite on the back end that lingers over two nights but only a wee bit of heat. The earth recede on the second night but not completely leaving it to add complexity. The complexity picks up on the second night as the fruit relaxes and lets some secondary characters show. The nose adds some iron like notes and the palate shows some tannin. This has developed nicely. Another 06 Cali Pinot that is better now than on release. Not an exceptional Pisoni but neither is it a fruit bomb. Interesting mix.

October 19, 2011 - Tasted alongside other 2006 Pisoni vineyard wines. Not as well structured as the Pisoni Estate Pinot of the same year, or even Lucia for that matter. This vintage didn't wow me as well as other vintages of Siduri Pisoni that we've had. Some dark berry fruit, pomegranate, a little earth at the finish. If this were $20 cheaper, I'd have been delighted. But . . .

Very easy to drink. Picked up some forest floor and mushrooms. Flat finish.
