February 7, 2014 - Dark, brooding, and oh-so serious. Ayres makes impeccable, mineral-driven, elegant Pinot Noirs, and this is no exception. But damn this wine sure doesn't want to have fun! The fruit has fully shifted into secondary mode, and nobody on Kistler's or Kosta Browne's mailing list would give this a second sip. But right now it's also a bit of a humorless clod, with this unchanging monolith of black-tinged, minerally fruit that dominates the sense impression. You can tell that these folks love Burgundy, that it's their lodestar, but unlike say a top-drawer Savigny-les-Beaune of similar vintage, this bottle hardly changes an iota from first pour to the dregs.
December 7, 2013 - A very dark crimson that is infused with the light around. There's fruit, berries, but not overwhelming. The alcohol raises it's head with the glass swirl, even after seven years. A slight bite on the front of the tongue tells you that there is still some aging time but I feel it's nearing it's drinking window prime. This is a wonderful PN... That the fact that it's my 2013 Secret Santa gift is just kickass fun! 91 pts for those who need numbers.
October 7, 2013 - Ayres is a very good producer in the Willamette and I have been a fan for a while now. This is a solid effort, with great acidity and flavors, but slightly lacking in fruit. Very Good, on the verge of more. thedrunkencyclist.com
August 27, 2012 - - Ruby color.
February 4, 2012 - A lovely bottle of Pinot Noir with real poise and class - one of the best 06s I've tasted. It's quite round, with lots of black cherry fruit. Forgive the sacrilege, but it reminded me a little bit of a Chambertin.
April 30, 2011 - a beautiful, powerful nose of candied cherries and pomegranate. bigger than what I am used to from Willamette valley, but very nice none the less
March 2, 2009 - A nice solid point, not too bold, right amount of fruit. Went well with breaded catfish.
