September 17, 2023 - Agree with the prior review. Would add that, at this point, recommend an hour plus decant, then it softens some. But probably would wait a few more years.

September 6, 2023 - A southern Rhône red that, were it labeled Châteauneuf-du-Pape, would command twice the price. Intense, alcoholic and full of berries, it attacks like a wrestler or heavyweight boxer. There is no subtlety (nor oak) here. Lots of glycerine, some tannins, and did I say alcohol? This appears to be the current thrust of southern Rhône wines. 25% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre. 15% alcohol listed on the label. Yowza!

May 4, 2023 - Red licorice and cherry nose with a touch of barnyard and earth notes. Exuberant red fruits race across the palate adding some clay and garrigue, to offset the initial zing. Earthy finish with medium resolved tannins, red and blue fruits, and a final tackiness. Drink over the next couple years at most.

March 26, 2023 - Retasted four months later (see my note of 11/29/22), this wine has now come vividly to life--cherries, herbs (thyme?), minerals, bacon, cocoa, spices (mace?), with a hint of tangerine. Lovely aftertaste starts at medium-length when the bottle has just been opened, but over the next hour becomes very long (even longer after two hours), with a touch of licorice at the end, and eventually milk chocolate. An elegant delight. No hurry, but there's no longer any reason to wait. Tasted over two hours from the Conterno glass (this, of the several glasses I tried, gave the best results), during which time the wine got better and better. The score reflects the wine at about two hours in the glass--but it was already at 93 points just a half hour after opening the bottle. (Before opening this bottle, I worried and worried and worried that I might be opening it too soon--I'm glad I went with my (very fallible) instincts and opened it!)
