August 23, 2020 - Last bottle! This time, the nose offers up intriguing notes of strawberry and rhubarb. Once again, this tastes remarkably young for a 19-year-old bottle of Barbera! There is some dark cherry on the palate, in addition to the strawberry. The high acidity definitely extended the wine's shelf life, yet the freshness of the fruit is still remarkable, particularly since there are neither tannins nor discernible oak holding this together.

July 11, 2020 - Surprisingly dark red core. Lovely tart cherry on the nose, very primary. Showing no age, except for a bit of brick dust. Bone dry, high (but balanced) acidity, similar in texture and mouthfeel to a seriously good Cru Beaujolais. Light-to-medium bodied — actually picks up sone heft after an hour or so of air. No rush on this.

April 15, 2020 - Still quite fruit forward but the dense concentrated fruit very evident when young has softened and there's a bit of mushroomy, gamey notes starting to come through. Excellent balance, alcohol dosen't stick out, tannins are much calmer and acidity is mellow but present. This is at peak drinking and is thoroughly enjoyable now.

    June 16, 2018 - Just a lovely bottle in a perfect place.
    Impenetrable dark purple red.
Such a complex nose: strawberries, raspberries, dark cherries, soy, confection, truffle, mirrored on the palate. Quite possibly one of the most perfect bottles of any wine I’ve ever enjoyed.

February 17, 2017 - Perfectly mature for my palate. Powerful at the core, but in a weightless, feminine style that evokes beauty and grace. Wonderfully evolved flavors that align themselves just so with the acidity and the artful tannic framing. Yes, it will last, but I'm not sure it's getting any better from here. Textbook example of why we cellar/wait. Excellent food wine. recommended

Aerated to decanter 60 minutes, served non-blind with mushroom and fennel risotto; alcuni cubetti di pancetta, anche ;-)
