March 20, 2024 - Glad to have given this time to settle in because this bottle was gorgeous and really delivered. Black raspberry and plums on nose and palate, but there’s also a depth and richness of the flavor that goes beyond the fruit.
While I’m not afraid of acid I’m definitely not a fan of screechy stuff, and I don’t get any “tart” notes on these like a lot of other notes.
November 10, 2023 - Bright flavors of cranberry and tart cherry. At the same time there was a sultry underbelly of lilac, and plum that gave it some added depth. Really enjoyable.
April 6, 2023 - Crimson in color. 12.9% ABV. Fabulous nose of red fruits, citrus and flowers. Medium body with ample acidity. Light, crisp and fresh. Cherry, cranberry, pomegranate and minerals on the palate. Nice length on the finish. As always this wine from Sandlands is refreshing, delicious and easy to drink. Best over the next several years.
March 23, 2023 - Glassware: Yeti tumbler
Notes: No nose because of the lid. Super fresh, crunchy red fruits, delicious, ready to go, everything I love about Sandlands
August 3, 2022 - Tasting this one in anticipation of the upcoming release. This is another classically light and interesting wine. Bright red fruit, lower alcohol, both savoury and fruity. I just really like drinking these!
April 13, 2022 - Light, translucent, peppery, slightly tart and balanced. Nice backbone of acid.
March 15, 2022 - Delicious, juicy, spicy. will be better after time smoothes it ou a bit.
December 30, 2021 - Fruit forward in style. Bright fruit on the open, with notes of vanilla and some oak, transitioning to a candied cherry flavor, some cola, and some vanilla. We paired this with wood-fired pizza and it held up well.
December 26, 2021 - TCA. Unusual in my experience from Sandlands. Glad I have another.
December 22, 2021 - My second of two bottles allocated to me. The first was flawed with TCA; a huge bummer. This bottle, however was perfect. The 2019 Carignan pours a very pretty ruby color with translucent core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, medium intensity with red fruit and floral aromas with some underbrush and dusty earth aromas. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium acid and medium- tannins. The bright red fruits are confirmed with forest strawberry and raspberries and wet stone minerals. There is an overwhelming impression of freshness that so many of the Sandlands wines possess. Charming stuff really. Drink now and over the next 5 years or so.
