March 26, 2024 - Austere end of the Beaujolais crus I was drinking. Darkish fruits. Plum? More structure.

March 15, 2024 - Needs and hour or two of air open up properly. While airing there are aromatics of black cherry, herbs and silage. Thankfully the silage element dissipated with airing. Once aired is a brooding black cherry-based wine with thyme and mint notes at the back palate. I enjoyed the balance with the acidity nicely controlled.

February 7, 2024 - Ripping acid in the best way (for me) but not unbalanced.

January 8, 2024 - Quite brooding and compact still but with real quality. Was completely closed on first pouring but opened up a bit after a splash decant and even better second day. Dense nose of ripe dark berries and plums, but also a layer of baking spice and something more musky and animal-like. Really juicy and powerful palate; high acid and chewy tannins but so much fruit there that it’s no chore to drink now. Outstanding with a simple puy lentil dish with chicken breast. Happy to drink another bottle young but will leave the other three for 5-10 years.

November 28, 2023 - N...medium-rich red fruit but not much beyond that, a bit of a simple fruit bomb so far.

    C....solid red

T.....rich inky sweet ripe fruit, too sweet/out of balance?; gentle tannins, a hint of structure eventually arrives, plus acid; cassis fruit, blueberry, ripe red plum; ends medium-dry; just a hint of minerals. It needs to be more balanced and elegant but at least it sits well in the soft ripe but juicy slightly crunchy Beaujolais slot. It might be interesting to see if it dries out in the cellar.

VFMoney?....feels worth around £15.00, probably £20.00 at best.

November 23, 2023 - Really good, lovely full dark red, black, blue fruit, nice undertones of mineral and earth. Great balance with clean, crisp cidity and tannin. Drank before 2017 same wine, the 2020 was overall more enticing.

November 7, 2023 - For me, this is more like a wine from the Cote de Beaune as it has more body and a more full mouthfeel to it than a typical Beaujolais. As I have commented before, this beaujolais is terrific, especially for the price. Lots of black cherry fruit, with nice acidity and minerality, some savory notes and a medium finish.

August 11, 2023 - sampling Cru Beaujolais: dark garnet and medium-plus bodied. very generous nose of a melange of red berries, forest floor, smokey whiffs, some drying roses, and blood orange. concentrated and intense in every way in the mouth, it has lovely balance. the fruit flavours are rich, the acidity is high, the minerality is palpable, and the tannins are firm while polished. good persistence.

very good now, likely better in a couple of years.

13% AbV; vines at least 50y.o.

August 11, 2023 - Cru Beaujolais (K&L Wine Merchant - Redwood City): I smell a bit of that thick acrylic paint in a good way, white pepper (the kind you would use in rice porridge), whole red berries with bitter skins, dark earth and broken twigs.

Whole cranberries on the palate with its clean fruit flavors and gentle bitterness, a refreshing greenness that’s somehow enjoyable, and gentle minerals on the finish.
