October 19, 2019 - Dark plums and currants, leather, earthy. Mature, medium tannins, jammy. Could go on for years, but drinking beautifully now.

October 2, 2019 - Drunk at China Tang - Hong Kong - Rich & luxurious wine that lives in the shadow of the '96. Extremely approachable now but with decades in the tank. Not that I expected to be disappointed by this in anyway but it is certainly an exception to the 'Left Bank in '96, Right Bank in '95' rule.

August 27, 2019 - Firm style of Chateau Margaux, that seems like its a modern-day version of their 1986. As time evolved in the decanter and glass, the wine filled out, softened, gained in aromatics and generosity. Full-bodied, powerful and concentrated, this is still quite tannic. Give it another decade and the wine should be markedly better, else allow it 3-4 hours of air, so it can flesh out and open.

August 21, 2019 - I won’t rate this wine because it isn’t near ready yet, IMHO. We had two bottles decanted 4 hours before tasting, and this deeply ruby red wine had black fruit on the nose, with graphite, violets, and a slightly funky earthy scent that muted as time went on. It had a velvety texture, and was somewhat more fuller in body than other Ch. Margaux I’ve tasted. It was delicious on the palate with dark red and black fruit, along with a bit of saddle leather and minerals. The finish was long, with prominent tannins, so I think it will last a good long while. I think I’ll wait another 5 years to open another bottle. A very, very special wine that will be a stunner with more age!

(Château Margaux) Very dark red violet color; big black fruit, menthol nose; tasty, concentrated, tart black fruit, cigar box, charcoal palate; medium-plus finish (more ripe Graves-like to me than a typical Margaux, but still delicious)
