August 21, 2019 - I won’t rate this wine because it isn’t near ready yet, IMHO. We had two bottles decanted 4 hours before tasting, and this deeply ruby red wine had black fruit on the nose, with graphite, violets, and a slightly funky earthy scent that muted as time went on. It had a velvety texture, and was somewhat more fuller in body than other Ch. Margaux I’ve tasted. It was delicious on the palate with dark red and black fruit, along with a bit of saddle leather and minerals. The finish was long, with prominent tannins, so I think it will last a good long while. I think I’ll wait another 5 years to open another bottle. A very, very special wine that will be a stunner with more age!

August 15, 2019 - Deep ruby. Very brooding and closed. Not very attractive at the moment. Lots of herbal, licorice notes going on. No perfume, fruit seems to be hiding. Don’t think this is affected but no joy or fun here compared to previous bottles all purchased on release. I will give it the benefit of the doubt given my previous high praise and enjoyment of this wine. Leave this for a year and hopefully it is back awake and rocking again.

April 14, 2019 - Maggie- und Gemüsenote, wie es selten gesehen habe! Aber eine wunderschöne Trinkreife.

April 7, 2019 - Last tasted nearly two and half years ago, at the time it was challenging. However, it has moved forward considerably since, and is a joy to drink. I gave this 7 hours in the decanter and it paid dividends. The nose is deep and perfumed with blackcurrant and cedar with background floral hints. It has developed sufficiently on the palate to be fully appreciated, with an outstanding depth. The finish is lengthy but still a little dominated by the tannin. As with the year as a whole, it has turned a corner and is starting to justify its original accolades upon release. More time will undoubtedly improve this, but it is starting to be highly enjoyable now. 96+

March 30, 2019 - Zachy's Lafite Auction (Le Bernardin Prive): Woody, toasty, dark fruit, herbal, sweet licorice, primrose. Slightly tired and finish is short. 92

(Château Margaux) Very dark red violet color; big black fruit, menthol nose; tasty, concentrated, tart black fruit, cigar box, charcoal palate; medium-plus finish (more ripe Graves-like to me than a typical Margaux, but still delicious)
