December 19, 2018 - Funky. Fresh. Balanced. Integrated. Delicious. This wine shows a beautiful crimson in the glass, with solid coloring from edge to edge. On the nose, that classic Cameron funk, fruit and earth. On the palate, age has treated this wine very well; the flavors are integrated and the tannin is balanced. Acidity is present, but in check and the finish lingers. Hard to believe this has been sitting in my cellar for 11 years; wish it had been part of a case purchase so I could enjoy more. Lovely wine.

May 17, 2013 - Developed well over several hours.

January 11, 2012 - Drinking solidly young the first night, with some secondary development (mushroom and soy) on the second, but there's not yet a whole lot of complexity. There's a touch of menthol and a faint screech of bitterness, and it's a touch lacking at midpalate. Don't get me wrong: this is good, not bad, but it's just not gelling. That said, if you have a stash, there's enough fruit density, acidity, and freshness to let this ride a while and see how it develops.

December 9, 2011 - Good complexity and fruit but I am personally distracted by what I perceive to be noticeable brettanomyces. I believe this to be a personal preference but just not my thing... Underlying character of this wine is quite nice.

January 6, 2011 - Tasted over three days. Transparent ruby red. Nose is quite appealing and balanced with mushrooms and earth and some pleasant red fruit. Medium bodied. Gorgeous soft and silky mouthfeel. Quite clean. Pomegranite and baking spice with a hint of damp earth. Nice acidity, and tannins are pillow soft. Medium finish.

The wine is, IMO in a great drinking window right now as it just hits all the right notes. No components need to integrate as this really feels like it is in perfect harmony. A bit surprising considering the structured nature of the 2005 vintage, but who's complaining?
