September 2, 2022 - What a surprise! I was expecting this to be another celebrity's sad attempt at making drinkable wine and was extremely surprised to find out it is much greater than that. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Durif, 10% Aglianico, 13.5% abv. The marketing copy says this is a wine meant for beef, and they were right on. Make no mistake, this is a new world wine, but it is far from the bombastic, over the top fruit bombs from Napa. Dark berries persist, but pyranzines provide a nice foil to the rich fruit, balanced by a fair amount of acidity I have not typically seen in new world steak wines. Moderate length on the finish. Good structure, holding up well over five days without being the worse for wear. Based on this experience I'll buy more; I'm curious how this will age. At $50, a bit pricey to be a cellar defender, but it does reflect a better QPR than similarly priced wines from Napa.

January 23, 2022 - Decanted for an hour. Ripe red cherries, strawberries, raspberries. Dirt/earth and dust. Oak influence is pretty subtle. Full bodied, medium tannin. A bit pricey; but a good effort from Arizona!
