November 18, 2023 - Two and a half hour decant. Very deep dark magenta color. Boysenberry, butterscotch, dark plum, chocolate malt, and limestone. Silky, plush palate. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.

This is totally my style. So rich and easy drinking. Absolutely drinks above its price point. Some may find it a touch simple. Oh well…

October 13, 2023 - Decanted this 2.5 hours and drank over another hour. Upon opening this had a meaty nose and was a touch sanguine although the nose seemed muted. On trying the wine I didn't get any meat in the profile. This dark, garnet wine filled out quite a bit with air and hit the sweet spot at the 3 hour mark. Flavors of raspberry, cherry, blueberry, chocolate, and just a hint of tobacco. Never tasted the meatiness on the palate and it really faded on the nose as the fruit dominated once it got air. Was going back and forth about drinking this or the 2021. After how long it took for this to open I was glad I didn't pop the 2021. Fait Main was the only winery that I get allocations from that didn't raise prices for the 2021 vintage. I understand the loss of the 2020 vintage really hurt wineries and the 2021 vintage production is down more than 30% so I understand raising prices but when times get tough and I have to start cutting wines I will remember that Fait Main really took care of their customers. I also agree with many that this is the best priced Missouri Hopper in the valley and of high quality. Very enjoyable wine.

June 20, 2023 - Opened this after tasting the 2018 and made a late decision to taste them both together. Drinking youthfully but excellent right now. About 1 hour of air initially. Very bright dark blue and black fruit, tannins present but adding texture, long finish. On day one this had more acid and freshness than the ‘18, although the tannins were not as luxuriously silky smooth. Overall about half a point better if I had to choose, but even that seems silly because both were lovely.
Day 2, interestingly, both wines were still excellent but almost indistinguishable. The tannins had smoothed and the freshness less obvious.

May 14, 2023 - Three hour decant. Nearly opaque electric magenta color. Blackberry, plum, powdered sugar on crumble coffee cake, and sunflower seed. Smooth, dry palate, with satiny acidity. Firm, full, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.

This is just fun to drink. It’s youthful and evolving, but already full of pleasure. I’m looking forward to where this will go in the next few years.

November 14, 2022 - Tonight, chocolate dominated the dark flavors tonight. Lasted the entire evening. What an amazing wine.
