January 8, 2024 - Amazing how much it has improved since I had my previous bottle 3-4 years ago. It's an excellent complex multi-layer wine, which makes you go "Wow"! It has everything: mixed red and black fruits with the whole pallet of tones and nuances, beautifully framed by soft acidity and secondary flavors. At the same time, it's smoothed, not too loud.

November 6, 2023 - Cedar, blackberry, cherry, leather and some herbaceous aromatics. Tastes of black cherry, blackberry, dark chocolate, olive. Very savory and well integrated. Tannins are pleasantly present and fine grained. This is an outstanding wine. Guessing a few more years at peak and many more years of enjoyment.

August 7, 2023 - One off from a large private party purchase (hard to price individual bottles, but about $110) just under 3 years ago. On the nose and palate, medium notes of cassis, black cherries, blackberries, mulberries, tobacco, dark chocolate, espresso, anise and oak. Impenetrably dark maroon, full bodied, medium+ legs. Light and completely integrated tannins and acidity, no heat. VG++ complexity and persistence, VG intensity. This came out of the bottle completely integrated, seeming almost a bit washed out, and I worried, here we go again with another bottle well past its sell by date. I recorked, and after an hour or so of slow ox, this rallied, and filled out notably over 2 nights (with the cork left in, although some glasses getting at least 45 minutes of air as I drank them). This wine is delicious, rich and opulent, very much like the recent ‘09 Outpost True and the earlier half case of the ‘05 V 29 Aida, but while my initial appraisal was unduly ungenerous, a bit more backbone could have taken this wine from excellence to greatness, more like its 4 year older mate, which was drinking far more youthfully at the start of the year. With that in mind, this is probably most satisfying as a cocktail wine, although it certainly didn’t suck with mixed grill one night, burgers another. Drink now-soon. CT window and score bang on. 95+

June 9, 2023 - This wine was a generous X-mas gift from my brother-in-law's father. I let it breathe in the bottle for 45 minutes. Plenty of fruit and baking spice in the bouquet for the first 3 hours; then a bit less fruit, with the baking spice and hint of tobacco elevating their presence. The flavors were a bit jammy during the first hour and a half until the wine fully opened (but in a good way, delicious); then the wine became more sophisticated, with notes of cherry, raspberry, cassis, spices, and hints of oak, mint, and tobacco. Tannins were fully integrated. The complex structure and balance were enticing. I appreciated the full body and long finish. This wine is maybe just beginning to exit its peak so drink soon. I really enjoyed this Pride Mountain Cab.

July 12, 2022 - A fantastic, mature cab. Tobacco, cedar, black and red fruits. I can't see this improving. Drink soon.
