August 12, 2023 - I thought this was lovely - quite delicate but with a nice balance to it - and should be good for quite a few years yet

March 1, 2023 - NobleRottersSydney - German night (Fix, St James, Sydney): {375ml, cork, 6.5%, AP 72 12} Research tells me this is 150g/l of residual sugar, and comes largely from the Bernkastler Lay vineyard. It tastes a lot sweeter than that; it’s honey nectar in a glass, and yet it’s only light/medium in weight. There’s a luscious intensity to the palate, a luminous glow of sweetness, and I think the medium/long finish is only compromised by the acidity being a little low – this also explains the seeming sweetness. So, it’s a lovely wine, and it was great that Loosen made so much of this available as a comparatively affordable price. I suspect the 187ml bottles might be on the downslope though!

January 17, 2021 - More evolved than would have expected. Deep yellow, golden color. Well balanced between sweetness & acid, not overly sweet. Medium bodied, was expecting fuller body given the sweet nose and color.

December 26, 2020 - This is excellent. Pure golden color with a very pure botrytis dominated nose. The nose is youthful and currently lacking in secondary notes. The palate is similarly pure with bright fruit driven extract. Medium bodied for a Beerenauslese with a good (but not special) finish. There is a lot to like here but note there is little nuance or complexity. Excellent QPR but not special. (90)

September 14, 2020 - Heaven. Less sweet an more “minerally” than in 2010 when I got it. I’m not even sure how to describe it.

August 7, 2020 - From 1987 ml bottle. Fresh apricot aromas, followed by both fresh and dried apricot flavors with very good density and richness. Lush sweetness throughout with hints of botrytis. No rush to drink.

April 22, 2019 - Golden color, drinking well. Adorable little cork. My sense is that this could age much longer. 06 seems to have been quite a year for Mosel Beerenauslese.

June 25, 2017 - A private lunch (Restaurant Schloss Berg ***, Perl/Nennig, Germany): From various estate vineyards but apparently mainly Bernkasteler Lay, 135° Oechsle, TA 8.5 gr/l, RS 150 gr/l. Elegant Beerenauslese, very fresh and intense, ripe peach and some honey, not heavy at all, more like a long Gold Cap in style, lively acidity, passion fruit and citrus, very good length.
