  December 30, 2009 - Clear and bright, relatively light in color. Pop and pour notes: Spicy dried cherry nose with mushroom and crushed rock. Lean and and acidic attack, dark cherry and rhubarb flavors, a bit astringent and woody on the finish. Definitely tastes Italian, I'd never guess this is from Cali. Really calls for food, I wish I had lasagna! 85+. After 15 mins starting to get some real complexity. Starting to get a maple note. At 1 hr in the glass the nose and mid-palate are really satisfying. Final assessment: this is great if you like old world Italian reds, otherwise skip.

  April 26, 2009 - The descriptive word that comes to mind when I taste, smell and look at this wine is: mellow...
  
  The color is a mellow brownish red. The smell is a mellow blend of berry and oak. I detected a hint of that maple candy that melts in your mouth.
  
  Very well balanced between tannin, alcohol and fruitiness. Really loved this wine!
