Community Tasting Notes 7

April 7, 2024 - Cherry, not to sweet, but not that much aftertaste

  • Poussin Does not like this wine: 84 points

December 18, 2023 - I was a bit disappointed with this. Was hoping for lots of dark berries and ruby character, but I was hit with an overwhelming note of camphor in the nose, which (admittedly) is a personal pet hate of mine. My friend actually quite enjoys it, so he gets to finish the bottle.

November 24, 2023 - Unfiltered (so crucial*) from Vinha da Pisca, and Vale do Pinhão e Ferrão, vineyards in the Cima Corgo. This bottle was purchased recently from the shelf at Honeybee/La Colmena on Bagley. NOSE: brooding and bright; popcorn; boot leather scented of mint; active churning crumbles of black fruit pulp , graphite, curry, and strawberry tar. MOUTH: adaptation to Infantado's Meio-Seco style highlight this item's comfort-factor fine texture and polish. And still, it's resilient in structure, with edged tannins wrapped in foraged earth and sous bois bass notes. Lemon oil; mossy cobbles; violets; plum jam. Organized. Youthful, and already showing signs of accomplishment.
This wine never succumbs to blights common in this "category." It uses every joule of energy in a faithful dramatic rendering of Cima Corgo. Nothing cosmetic. Long, spiced, interesting, dry resolution on the palate, slate-cool and dark. Paired with Bailey Hazen Blue, Meijer Walnuts, and the smell of braising beef cheek
    ________
*Insist on it. At one time, the only unfiltered port to be found was Vintage Porto and so-called Crusted. AFAIK Niepoort and Quinta do Infantado bottle all of their ports unfiltered. (Please post a comment with your observations; are other shippers/quintas bottling unfiltered?) And if the difference in taste weren't already obvious, find old bottles of Niepoort or QdI basic Ruby to dramatize the point.

November 5, 2022 - PnP klar blåbærfrukt og sprit. Ikke helt i balanse. Litt rå sprit. Flere dager i kjøleskap, som sist

March 4, 2022 - Ripe red fruit and spice. Cherry and sweet Christmas spice
