April 13, 2023 - Delicious nose of candied red fruit, baking spice and menthol. Coupled with the refreshing tannins and acidity we get a very pleasant and easy drinking nebbiolo from neive. Great vfm. Instant favourite.

March 16, 2023 - Decanted for c. 60 minutes and consumed with hearty braised chicken thighs with zaatar.

This is a terrific everyday nebbiolo.

Bright acidity, manageable tanin, lovely aromatics, refreshing finish ... this is cherries and cinnamon and a little menthol packaged really nicely (balanced). At $17 a bottle, I'm not sure I've had anything better in recent memory. Don't expect layers upon layers of complexity here but you're getting so so much for your money.

March 2, 2023 - More structure second night. This is a great by at $17.

March 1, 2023 - Bright red cherry nose, medium body with mouthwatering acidity and some juicy red fruits. Finish lingers but a bit thin and slightly tannic. Probably not enough core fruit for the long term. Good QPR and ok to drink now.

    February 15, 2023 - Pale Garnet

Medium(+) intensity, developing aromas of red cherry, red plum, licorice, kirsch, dried herb, dried rose petal, nutmeg, leather, tea leaf, rooibos tea, fennel, lightly toasted oak, smoke.

Dry, medium(+) acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, medium(+) fine-grained grippy tannins, medium(+) intense flavors of tart red cherry, red plum, licorice, kirsch, dried herb, dried rose petal, nutmeg, leather, tea leaf, rooibos tea, fennel, lightly toasted oak. The wine has a drying medium(+) finish.

Quality: This is a Very Good wine. The elevated fruit and flavor intensity is well balanced against the higher levels of tart acidity and grippy tannins. Oak usage is neutral, perhaps spending time in older large casks for 18 months to highlight the primary flavors (red cherry, rose petal, licorice, dried herbs) while only imparting lightly toasted oak, nutmeg, and smoke flavors. While youthful, developing flavors of tea leaves, dried fruits, and dried herbs are already present in the wine. The rim of the wine displays a faint orange color. The wine must display more fruit concentration and a longer, more intense finish to be outstanding.

Aging: This wine is suitable for aging. As the wine ages over five years, the elevated, grippy tannins will soften and become more integrated with the acidity, alcohol, and fruit concentration. Tertiary flavors of meat, mushroom, tobacco, and dried fruits (red cherry, kirsch, prune) will develop to complement the current complex flavors in the wine.
