March 5, 2023 - Usually love Melville wines, $68 in Monkeypods wailea, 14.0 % abv but drank like it had much more alcohol, great bouquet, wine was spicy or hot, medium body, fruity but tasted of lots of wood, not sure if there is smoke taint here or too much stem, wife agreed, wine never sang to us, did not finish the bottle, not sure what JD and AG tasted, would not drink again, will stay with DDO.

January 16, 2023 - Vinturied into decant and consumed over several hours.
Powerful SRHs aromatics, lovely bouquet of funk along with solid earthy notes, terrific.
I tried this a few months ago at the winery, and don’t remember the aromatics and funk being so dominant-did not purchase.
Certainly too young now..2 years from now this will be in a beautiful spot, if you can wait!
Note, This really popped after 3+ hours.
    Hold…drink 2025/9
    Rebuy-re drink

November 29, 2022 - In a vintage of considerable inconsistency this is a refreshing departure. Tense red fruit over stemmy funky Sta Rita foundation of dusty earth and herbs.

    Tasty!

October 25, 2022 - All 16 clones, 40% whole cluster and all neutral oak. Ripe fruit with some savory notes to it. And more savory and green tartness on teh palate as well. Needs some time to harmonize.

September 29, 2022 - Really enjoyed this powerful, new world , concentrated and highly aromatic Pinot noir. Had I tasted Blind I may have guessed sonoma , like Russian river. I’m not a Santa Rita hills expert, but this is big and pretty rich and concentrated. Some earthiness but tons of dark and sweet cherries. Great value if that’s your style.

June 13, 2022 - A mix of garnet and ruby red. Underripe cherries on the nose. Well balanced palate with medium acidity (6/10) and a medium minus body. Fleshy palate with black plums, rhubarb and spices. Medium plus to long finish. Drink till 2028.

May 20, 2022 - Melville Spring 2022 Pickup Tasting (Melville Santa Barbara Tasting Room): Bringing the full aromatic spectrum, raspberry, sage, spice, savory and complex. Full but fresh fruited attack, palate narrows a bit as it moves towards a spice driven finish. Reminds me a lot of the 2017 through the first half, though loses some momentum towards the back half.

May 8, 2022 - Medium bright ruby red in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of blueberries, cherries & plums with overtones of spice notes & floral notes of violets, earthy/dusty, minerals, a hint of herbs & a hint of vanilla in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, strawberries & cranberries with spices, minerals, herbs & a hint of vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging.
