December 28, 2018 - Not far off the 1999 Shafer HSS. 4 hour decant and a couple of hours back in an open bottle. It took the decant to bring out the deep brooding flavors.

August 22, 2014 - Layered nose, with true depth, ripe blue and black currants, blue berry cobbler, a bit of black licorice on the back. Outstanding ripeness here, that is also fresh at the same time, with velvety tannins nipping on the finish. Mouth coating, a 25-second finish, still. Truly lush, and luscious, and I am amazed at the freshness with all the ripeness going on here. Fireworks, folks.

October 6, 2011 - Nose of black currants, black fruit, cassis, anise, and dusty earth, same on the palate, big body, rich flavors, long, long, long finish.
