    January 8, 2023 - Very very good value and a superb expression of Barbera D’Alba. Lusciously fruited but with an austere inclination to yield interest with every sip. Having had the 2016 twice this vintage is the equal- super winemaking here- not sure I can think of a better bottling of the appellation.

    Color: dark ruby with tinges of purple, very slight browning on edges.
    Legs: very slow
    Nose: blueberry, lots of brown spices, loam/earth,black cherry, plum, red licorice
    Palate: blackberry, plum, sour cherry, red licorice, anise
    Finish: sour cherry, dried plum, anise, pepper, poppy seed
    Comments: Popped ‘N Poured. Soft yet vibrant after a few minutes. A great intro wine to Barbera 101. The 2019 should do as well.
    Pairing Suggestions: salami, bruschetta, BBQ Beef, Eggplant Parmesan, wild boar, sausage pizza, meatloaf,
    pasta with meat a la Paulie Gualtieri 🕴🤌🕵🎩🔪🔫 😂

    April 16, 2022 - Decanted 1 hour to let wine open a bit. Nice nose of ripe black berries w/fairly good legs. Flavor of blackberries & light plums w/good balanced finish. Went well with appetizer of prosciutto & sharp provolone & entree of sausage & peppers

    January 31, 2022 - A gorgeous span of mature berries—mocha, cherry jam—subject to raspy, sour earth. It leads sweet and lean-toned before immediately surrounding itself with cardoon, roasted chiles, yellow pottery, and vanilla. Kijafa liqueur stretches into a tense array of green cinnamon, blonde tobacco, and bedrock soot. This is something to pair with roasted wild boar in a mustard-pepper sauce.

    This bottle went half-finished—the best wines often do around here. Here's what it tasted like after half depleted, resealed and rested in a cool place for two weeks: NOSE: Subtle shades of vanilla drips on tamarind muffins. Whatever remained of its glossy sweetness, on opening, is thoroughly perforated now. And it’s interesting how this seems to reveal more of its earth and patina. Maybe that’s why we age vino in the bottle. This tastes great. I am about to finish drinking every drop of it.
