December 1, 2023 - Decanted 2 hours. An outstanding wine with notes of cassis, cherry, black raspberry with underlying notes of bramble and crushed pepper. It's an opulent wine with a velvety mouthfeel and well integrated tannins. Paired with venison osso buco.

October 28, 2023 - Dark cherry and juicy on the nose. Blackberry and tannins and a very long finish. In perfect balance now. Paired with Colorado lamb.

May 8, 2023 - At 15.5% and from 2006, a time when high-scoring Australian reds (at least in my experience) had long hang time and were loaded up with coffee and dark chocolate flavours, so I was not expecting to enjoy this. On first opening my worst fears seemed to be realised, but after a short while in the glass it opened up to bring big bold blackcurrant and plum flavours and some of the chocolate / coffee in perfect balance. The two standout points for me though were the acidity, which was perfectly judged and kept everything light, and the texture which was the drinking equivalent of the best silk. Lovely.

October 8, 2022 - still strong in alcohol taste, rich dark berries bit of musk and oak... strong from the beginning to the end....
