July 8, 2022 - Decanted one hour. This is simply delicious. An expressive nose of complex small berries and minerality - elegant. Similarly on the palate, showing depth of fruit, complexity, real balance and considerable finesse. Fully resolved tannin. I could drink this all day. Paired well enough with hanger steak and farro, though there is nothing robust about this wine. No reason to suggest this will not hold but today this is in a really good place and reflects all the nuance and relative delicacy of this somewhat unrepresentative Gevrey terroir. Bought on release.

January 29, 2019 - Required air time to show well. Spice and dark red fruit nose. Darker palate with a surprising amount of tannin. Some bret here. 92-93

January 4, 2018 - Carre. Blue nose, but very sweet to near cooked. Not the best showing for this wine.

March 28, 2017 - S/JR dinner. Another serious wine. Classic Roumier vitamin nose, but lighter than BM. Seriously dense and sweet.

March 1, 2015 - Alt-Paulée at Bouley: i wanted to love this wine, but I did not. It felt almost too ripe to me, a bit roasted. Without the proper balance and articulation. Very lovely fruit but felt blowsy. Caveat - this was the final wine in a night that saw 4 whites and 12 reds come before it, so it's possible/likely that my palate was fatigued and not able to experiences whatever nuance and detail that may have been present in this bottle.

March 1, 2013 - Lovely bright ruby, immediately kinky raspberry nose which is very flirty and fun. On the palate it is a little lighter than expected but still was wonderful hay and strawberries on the palate. Leaving it to the end of the evening, there was a noticeable prune and armagnac nose which is an indication that it is probably fully mature. 7 out 8 preferred this to the 93 Bonnes Mares from the same producer.

January 28, 2013 - Really nice nose a brambly red and black fruit. Undertones of earth and iron. Good density on the mid palate and a long finish. Great structure of tannin and acid, but it is nicely hidden by rich fruit.

November 14, 2011 - My wife and I had this beautiful wine at La Tour d´Argent in Paris looking out on Notre Dame with a duckling on the plate. Pretty amazing experience. This wine was beautifully balanced with a round elegant structure and with a massive length. Gorgeous wine!

July 6, 2011 - Popped and poured. Dusty ruby with just a hint of browning at the rim. Beautiful, deep nose of cherries, spice and earth. Velvety texture but still a lot of structure. I think its still on the way up. Very good performance.

November 3, 2009 - Roumier Dinner with 7 Vintages of Bonnes Mares++++ (Boka - Chicago IL): Single blind flight. Very nice wine with lush fruit, good spice and minerality. But a bit sweeter and less complex than I would be expecting from a Gevrey Grand Cru. Most others at the dinner enjoyed this wine more.
