May 10, 2024 - A broad PN by renowned Domaine de Villaine. Made from domaine’s single vineyard of La Fortune, fermented with 2/3 whole clusters, aged for 12 months in oak. Medium+ ruby colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of smoky cherries, roses, strawberries, violets. Medium+ body, rich and savoury, would love to see more finesse, but considering its southern location it’s a fine achievement. Nicely balanced red fruit flavours with floral notes, medium+ acidity and medium+ fine and soft tannic structure.

March 13, 2023 - Darker color with clarity, strikes the nose with hints of herbal eucalyptus and cherry scents, subtlety structured with soft edges, velvety mouthfeel and balanced acid, flavors of flowers, raspberry, plum and tea, comes in at mid weight but is effortless, ripeness of a vintage that drinks well early on, well made as usual

August 18, 2022 - Uncorked, poured and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours, this young Pinot has the deep-to-opaque ruby color of a juvenile Cabernet. Loaded with black fruit, it adds notes of fig, pickling spice, savory herbs, white pepper and ginger. Considering the varietal, it is full-bodied and ripe, but has an impressive acidic backbone. The alcohol (listed as 14%) lurks quietly and the tannins, albeit plentiful, are quite fine-grained. Dense on the mid-palate and medium-to-long on the finish, this is a New World-styled red Burgundy that, despite its currant seductive nature, will benefit from short-term cellaring. If you choose to pop the cork at this early stage, give it at least an hour of aeration. Drink 2024-2030.

July 13, 2022 - Dark color. Intense nose, very ripe, maybe too heady. The black fruited mouth is very ripe, almost too much, and is counterbalanced by biting acidity, more tartaric acid than lactic. If this is quite rustic and lacks a bit of ethereal grace, this is nevertheless a good entry level wine, more new world than Bugundy though and with just too much fullness for my taste.
