February 5, 2019 - My first wine of Grivot. Pretty confused with this wine. Very closed and earthy. First I thought that it was oxidised but then it revealed some black marmalade fruits. Overall it was very earthy and leathery. Tobacco, wet leaves, mushrooms and soil. On the palate it was full bodied with quite the same character and very grippy almost stiff tannins. An evolved and powerful Burgundy, still lacking in elegance and finesse.

August 11, 2018 - Bouteille et bouchon en parfaite condition. High fill.

October 28, 2015 - Even ruby, little development. Very Nuits nose of earth, sweaty black fruit. Medium weight, very focused and lean with a spine of high acidity. Significant tannic grip, some licorice, and soil throughout. Just a touch of chocolate after being open for 2 hours. Pretty old fashioned, take no prisoners style of Burgundy, with no tip of the cap toward fruit. Overall, the impression was remarkably similar to what I noted 6 years ago. This still has a long way to go before it sorts itself out.

October 19, 2014 - Bouteille et bouchon en parfaite condition. High fill.

January 3, 2014 - Very mature black fruit aromas that have mostly transformed into an earthy, sous bois start with good Vosne-like spice. Even more earthy on palate, borderline stewy, really giving a sense of a wine clearly on the back nine. Not showing the tannins and acidity I most often find in good 1996 1ers these days. Possible heat damage? This was an auction purchase from last year.

Burgundy-Report

(Grivot Jean Nuits St.Georges Les Boudots) I havented tasted one for a while, but I have a quite a few Grivot Nuits from this vintage - the Roncières in particular has been very nice. My first Grivot Boudots from ‘96: A little darker in colour than the Corton. The darker fruit also shows a hint of mustiness and is also a little more muscular. The delivery on the palate is similar to the Corton, intense, some tannin though the fruit is darker and a shade metallic tasting. Quite good, and of-course very young.
