September 26, 2019 - 1996 Burgundy Retrospective - The Fourth Session (Clarity - Vienna, Virginia): Perfectly mature nose displaying generous sweet slightly dry red fruit, plum, cherry pie, cooked raspberry, a hint of spearmint, mocha, caramel, rose, soy, earl grey, sous bois, cool breeze and mineral. Fully integrated palate, nicely layered subtle yet decadent slightly dry red fruit, silky and polished, bright acidity, strong crushed rock and a long decadent red fruit driven finish with cinnamon and sous bois at the end. This is a really well stored example. Clearly expressing Leroy decadence yet there is a hint of pretty Chambolle via rose. Really delicious.

August 2, 2018 - Deep color, liquor aromas, medium body, balanced, fruit-driven palate, flavors of raspberry tea, lucious smooth finish.

March 10, 2017 - Drunk the week of la Paulee, and one of the better wines of the week. Bottle 98 of 878. Darker fruit than I'd expect for Chambolle, but perhaps not for Leroy. Incredible perfume and beautiful balance in the mouth--easily the silkiest '96 I've drunk with no untoward acid. Long, long finish. This wine could easily pass for a grand cru.

June 26, 2010 - 25 Course Dinner at Saam (Bazaar) with some Krug, SQN, Leroy and assorted goodies; 6/25/2010-6/27/2010 (SLS Hotel Saam in the Bazaar, Beverly Hills): BEAUTIFUL nose on the pop and pour. Damp forest floor of leaves with a sniff of earth but joined by an elegant sweet red fruit. The Leroy's have such a distinctive nose, I can't figure out exactly what it is all the time, but it just reminds me of sweetened ice tea, sounds weird but I really like it.. it's pretty intoxicating.

At this point of the dinner, my throat was killing me so I didn't really take proper notes on the palate. All i know is about 4 hours into dinner, the palate shut down hard. The fruit disappeared and it became more of just dirt and spice. This puppy has ways to go.
