September 1, 2017 - Family dinner to start wife's birthday weekend (any excuse!).
Golden brown with significant meniscus. Cooked apple and glacé pineapple fruit, distinct steely minerality. Veneer of maple syrup/runny honey but very restrained and a perfectly integrated core pectic acidity that holds the whole in balance. Medium sweet, long and racy. Exquisite! The bottle lasted 20 minutes.
Fully mature but would hold up if well cellared for its 50th birthday although nothing to be gained from doing so. Would probably have hit 95pts ten years ago.
