December 6, 2022 - Honeyed, a bit oxidized, smoky, bacony nose. Very sweet but has nice length on the palate. It was pretty clear to all of us which wine this was. 2nd glass and further, it took more of an oxidized tinge, bordering on unattractive but didn't deteriorate further.

November 27, 2022 - Beat the 96 Rousseau Ruchottes: Blind. Sweet core, hint of tea, structured nose, refreshing made in a “modern” way

November 27, 2022 - Beat the '96 Rousseau: Quite an interesting wine, never had a Burgundy that presented such obvious honey and red date notes. Sweet on the palate but with tea-like tannins. Some noted that this became a little oxidised with air. Preferred the 2002 that I had a couple of months ago

November 27, 2022 - Blind tasting. Funky nose and dry tannins. Showing the vintage’s tough tannins but not the plot’s characteristic. Disappointing showing for the plot.

September 24, 2020 - Next to the 05, this was a bit darker, chunkier and blockier than the 05. More earthiness to the fruit and a more rugged/rustic personality — good not great.

September 24, 2020 - Fun with Pucelles and Amoureuses (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Served alongside the 2005. While this was certainly very enjoyable, it wasn't quite perfectly harmonious with some protruding tannins and a slightly drying finish. Despite those imperfections, there is a core of powerful fruit with earth hints starting to emerge and good+ weight.

August 3, 2017 - Expressive with red fruit, tart, hint of green, spice and earth. Palate has tart fruit, sweet fruit, earth, and metal. Its drinking at peak now. I actually think the 98 groffier haut doix I had few months ago was equally as good, but cheaper.

March 13, 2014 - La Paulee "Warm-up" Dinner (RN74 - San Francisco CA): Slightly earthy and chewy, this never quite seemed to come into perfect balance in the glass despite good fruit, spice and structure.

December 10, 2011 - HDH auction tasting at Tru (Chicago, IL): Only some slight signs of bricking. Very perfumed nose, with notes of roses, raspberries, and definitely some aromas of toasted oak; very bright on the nose. Very fruity on the palate with some youthful tannins that are still unresolved. Seems like it still needs a bit of time to integrate together, with the fruit feeling slightly out of balance with the tough tannins. On the other hand, the metaphor of an iron fist in a velvet glove is certainly an apt descriptor of this bottle.

August 28, 2011 - On the early side of ready, seemed to straddle classic Amoureuses and Gevrey with a touch of iron and orange peel, and earthy dark fruits. Great acidity and balance. This is a silky smooth Amoureuses.
