June 24, 2017 - Musique & Vin Festival BYO Dinner with Musicians (1243 Bourgogne Society - Beaune): Small glass, brief note. Fully mature orchard fruit with great concentration, moderate structure. Might have been great 5 or 10 years ago, but still very good tonight. Drink up.

January 15, 2016 - Deep burnished gold colour. Butter and smoke on the nose. There’s a lovely honeyed richness and softness to the palate, but tart/savoury lemon, lemon zest, and white flower notes provide lift and resonance. Well-integrated toasty oak on the long finish. Really very good, as it should be. Nearing the end of its life though, as oxidation had begun to set in on the second day.

May 20, 2011 - Dinner at Greg & Sayo's (Hong Kong): Exceptionally deep rich gold colour......looks like an old Sauternes in the decanter (decanted for 30 minutes or so). Nose is BANG!.....compote peaches and apricots, oak, very deep fruit freshness, vanilla pods, low-toned nail varnish remover, rich and heady honeysuckle and white honey....absolutely alluring.....almost botrytis there, so rich and honeyed but absolutely balanced and fresh. Palate is so soft and caressing, honeyed and velvety.....elements of smoked meat and incense too...unctuous and incredibly soft. Enormous length and huge resonance in the head on the finish.....thunderous, reverberating resonance. As the very long evening progressed the smoky, incense quality on both nose and palate came more to the fore together with increasing fresh acidity. I would probably have scored this higher had we not drank most of it with fairly spicy Thai food.

February 11, 2011 - Yellow in colour. Nose of lime, citrus and minerals. Creamy lemon curd coats the mouth. A little astringent and acidic for my liking.

January 9, 2010 - Drank with Runny and Miki over a great meal at Chez Patrick Sun Street, Hong Kong. Deep golden colour. Wow, the nose immediately hits you with rich caramel, vanilla, rich very new French oak, vanilla pods, custard, lemon meringue tart. sherbert lemon drops and warm white toast. The palate is toasted brown wholemeal bread, distinct precise and very refreshing acidity, and a very toasted slightly dry back end finishing with dry red roasted chillies. Fabulous length and considerable resonance in the head on the finish that goes on over a minute. Extremely young, youthful and undeveloped but utterly gorgeous. Gets more honeyed with time in the glass but still with a zingy, almost effervescent acidity. There is a rolling thunder reverb on the finish that grows with more time in the glass....... an encore that is completely unique of apple tart and custard, vanilla pods in creme brulee......... and still very refreshing and sharp gooseberry. Completely beguiling. 96+ only because it will improve with more age.
