December 25, 2005 - To cap a great Christmas we turned to a 10 year-old zinfindel that I thought surely would be over the hill. We have a turkey on the BBQ grill and while waiting, we opened a 96 Turley Tofanelli Vineyard zin. I am sure a few years back the flavors were sharper. The bottom line is drinik em if you've got em, but this bottle is in surprisingly good shape given its age. A tinge of discoloration on the rim -- medium purple and thick in the glass. The nose explodes with jammy gobs of cassis and plum and boysenberry. In the mouth, you get an exotic and flowery mix of cherries and dark fruit and notes of spice. There is still a full texture to the wine and a hot feel that warms the pipe on its way down your throat. Turley rarely disappoints.

May 13, 1999 - Brown spices, with sweet, gleceral fruit. Some soy, and a bit alcoholic, but the big fruit will not be denied. A bruiser of a Zin.
