May 22, 2021 - Decanted at 6:30pm and tasted over 6 hours with a little left to try again another day. Slightly translucent medium dark garnet with a crimson edge and no bricking. At first the nose is quite “piney” and touch “soapy”... Pine-Sol cleaner came to mind....but this dissipated rather quickly leaving a pleasant woodsy character that also expressed some plummy fruit, red florals and sweet perfume notes. Palate is nuanced and elegant, changing rather frequently over the evening. There is that typical Cab Franc “green” characteristic but also graphite, chocolate, burnt sugar, lavender, under-ripe plum and an herbal finish that is long and lingering in its nuances. Tannin is mostly integrated and it still has some bright acidity so I don’t think this is about to fall apart but it does seem to be solidly in its drinking window and probably at or near peak. Best at the end of the evening.

November 2, 2018 - Continues to drink with much soul. One short step behind Clos Rougeard.

December 30, 2017 - Very serious cab franc here- very dark, almost opaque, still lots of fruit and a little tannin hanging on. Make sure you stand this up for a day or so before opening because there is a lot of fine grained sediment that needs to settle. Excellent wine!

February 6, 2015 - Lush dark fruit, some acidity left , but softened tannins. Drinking well now.

August 15, 2014 - Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Dark core with thin garnet rim; musty and green nose, briary, green pepper, faint black currant and blackberry; soft tannin, mineral, limestone, spicy, dark fruit, palate is much better than nose suggests; got better with air.
