Community Tasting Notes 3

  • Vinnut Likes this wine: 90 points

April 15, 2024 - Medium-deep bright reddish garnet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries & strawberries with overtones of floral notes of roses & earthy/dusty notes, spices, dried herbs, anise, leather, minerals & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of sour cherries, strawberries & pomegranate with herbs, spices, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging.

October 3, 2022 - Not that often do I get to write the 1st CT TN on a wine. Highly recommend this with the caveat that although at this point already approachable and drinkable this is really too young and has a long bright future ahead of it starting mid-decade with an easy decade+ to go after that given proper cellaring conditions so hold not drink at this point - I think an appropriate drinking window is ~ 2025-2040. I see this eventually as a 92-93 point wine. A reasonable QPR wine right now and will mature into a good QPR wine at our acquisition cost. Dark purple, no bricking, bright, acidic, fruit forward and really requires food. Medium long aftertaste. Nose bright and almost effervescent with dark fruit, black pepper and an herbal note most closely resembling probably tarragon. Flavor profile lighter then expected even for a young barbaresco and with further maturation this will improve - dark stone fruit, tar and garrigue.
